“GURU SUWASETHA”

Weeraketiya Central College - Past Pupils Friendship Association – Colombo Chapter has organized a fund raising campaign to help for undergoing surgery of Mr Weerasoorira who was a teacher at the school 1972-1977.Mr Weerasooriya got his early retirement recently due to his sickness. During the August 2007 he is ready to go for a surgery to replace his knee bones as recommended by his doctors. Most of the his past students who loved Mr Weerasooriya, planned   to help him to recover the cost of  Rs. 350,000 of the surgery. This  fund organized by team of past pupils in 1971 OL class ….? of Weeraketiya Rajapaksha Central Collage .Having successful contribution from the team of past students, the colleted fund has been handed over (Rs. 250,000 check from RMMV-OP-CBO  account) to Mr Weerasooriya on 29th Saturday July 2007. The main sponsors are Suraweera, D. Abey ,Atapattu, Chandrasiri, Sunil, who are living in out side  Sri-Lanka. We had a small gathering at Mr Weerasooriya's place on 29th evening.

Participants were Sumathipala Mahanama Abewickrama,Nandisena Wijetunga (President), Gamini Andrahannadi (Past President), Jayasena Wijesuriya and MGW Suraweera.  Dudley also, virtually attending at the end. It was an emotional event the situation can’t explain in words. Though others were not physically there, everybody well represented at the event and appreciates everybody contribution and co-operation for success of this project.
